Seattle opened the season 2-0 and even after dropping a very winnable game, Sam Darnold and the offense combined for 437 total yards, leaving little to worry about the team’s production going forward.
According to the current lines at FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seahawks are a 6.5 point favorite (-118)that their money line is set at -335 and Los Angeles’ in +270. The line for total points is 44.5which seems to predict a higher scoring affair but not a shootout
Although the Chargers sit at 0-3 with losses to the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills, they are still not a team to be ignored. While the offense has struggled to move the ball under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, they are led by a proven veteran in Justin Herbert and have a strong supporting cast, consisting of Omarion Hampton, Ladd McConkey and Oronde Gadsden II.
Defensively, they sacked superstar quarterback Josh Allen twice in their Week 3 loss to the Buffalo Bills and held the dual threat signal caller to 22 rushing yards—though he did find the endzone twice. Regardless, the odds don’t necessarily justify how strong a Los Angeles team is.
But they have to contain a dangerous Seahawks attack, led by Jaxon Smith-Nijgba, who has totaled 405 receiving yards and six touchdowns in the team’s first three games. The real concern comes with their defense, which gave up just 33 points to a Commanders team led by Marcus Mariota.
Normally, this would be far from the issue but their secondary took a hit with safeties Julian Love (calf) and Ty Okada (hamstring) sidelined. It will be worth monitoring their status’ as the week progresses to see if any of them are healthy enough to suit up, but with Okada completely sidelined so far this season and head coach Mike Macdonald not providing an update, they appear on track to be missing at least one of the two starters.
The line of 44.5 for points total seems to be in line with one of the two returning and improving Seattle defense, especially considering they have allowed just 17 points in their first two games with Love on the field.
The Seahawks’ loss to Washington was eerily similar to last season’s Week 5, when they dropped a 38-35 offensive thriller to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while missing several key defensive pieces. However, they bounced back with a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and will be expected to come out on all cylinders again as they look to get back into the winning column.
