Without good quarterback play, no team in the NFL is going to have any kind of success. Sure, you can achieve average play at the most important position in sports, but it’s not sustainable for the long term.
Through a month of the season, as it happens, the best teams in the NFL are getting great or close-to-great play from their signal-callers, and it’s no accident. There’s a ton of football left, as there’s only one quarter left in the season (23.53 percent, technically).
As midseason approaches, there may be a more accurate representation of what the QB hierarchy truly looks like across the NFL. For now, we’ll take a conference-view of the QBs. Let’s dive into our updated QB rankings following Week 4 in the AFC. We use 2026 production as the basis for our rankings.
AFC QB rankings updated following wild Week 4 action
16. Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins
Malik Willis has one (1) touchdown pass in four games. He completed less than 60 percent of his passes and could end up on a team that has struggled to find a win this year.
The Miami Dolphins are flat-out bad, and it’s not like Willis has much talent himself, either. It’s a lose-lose situation.
15. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans
The first four games of Cam Ward’s second year in the NFL were not good. The Tennessee Titans are 0-4 on the season, and Ward has just three touchdown passes and is averaging just 181.5 passing yards per game.
The Titans aren’t exactly overflowing with talent on offense, but Ward hasn’t really shown much this year. He’s the first overall pick in a weaker QB class, at least that’s the idea, and I believe we’re not far from Ward becoming a bust.
