2027 Dynasty Superflex Rookie Rankings: Historic QB Class?

This could be the year your QB fortunes change to superflex if you have a hole at the position.

Many heralded 2026 as a potential generational QB class … but it turned out to be bullshit. Arch Manning and Dante Moore are back in school while Cade Klubnik and Garrett Nussmeier languished.

Today, 2027 can present a strong group.

Manning and Moore will likely declare this time. Plus, other young QBs offer the potential to be high first-round picks … and fantasy difference makers.

The QBs haven’t quite lived up to expectations early in the season, but this should still end up being a strong class with four or more QBs selected in the first round.

The class also looks to be full of RBs and WRs who could make an immediate impact in the NFL. We could be headed for one of the best rookie drafts of the last decade.

Just remember: Things change quickly in college football. Injuries, transfers, and breakout years all change the dynasty landscape.

We will continue to update these 2027 dynasty rookie rankings as players rise and fall. But here’s how things look now.

New Top Rivals Enter The Conversation

The expectation heading into the season was that Arch Manning and Dante Moore would battle for the top QB spot. Both fell though. Manning continued to struggle with turnovers while Moore suffered a severe concussion, ending his season.

Both could still be first round picks, but new names have emerged as candidates for the first QB taken.

Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker is currently the favorite. The 6’3, 215 pound QB followed HC Eric Morris from North Texas to the Cowboys. He shows high end processing going through progressions to find the perfect WR to target.

Mestemaker has the zip and arm strength to be a franchise QB, along with the ability to compete for big wins.

Experience will be Mestemaker’s downside. He was the only back-up QB in high school, playing Safety and Punter. He walked on to North Texas and rose to become the starter before the First Responders Bowl after the 2024 season.

He showed promise in 2025 at North Texas and now has exploded as a legit NFL prospect at Oklahoma State. Mestemaker has top-10 NFL QB upside, but the lack of high-end competition along with the experience issue is a concern.

Another Miami QB at the Top?

The other contender for top QB is Miami’s Darian Mensah. He comes to the Hurricanes from Duke, where he threw for 3,973 yards and 34 TDs. He is on pace to crush those numbers in Miami.

Mensah certainly has better weapons now with star WR Malachi Toney and they also brought in WR Cooper Barkate from Duke to stick with Mensah.

Mensah’s ceiling could be a Brock Purdy type of QB who wins more with smart decisions and accuracy than putting the ball in tight spaces or throwing down the field. He lacks perfect upside, but can have fantasy success with the right system and weapons.

First Round Can Be Filled with QBs

There’s a wide net for other potential QBs in Round 1. Manning and Moore will certainly still be picked there if they declare.

Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss blew away LSU this season, likely locking himself into the first round. He threw for 363 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for another. Chambliss’ impressive arm strength and decision-making propelled him to national recognition.

The drawback for Chambliss? He stands just under 6’0 tall (as verified in the spring by BLESTO), and weighs about 200 pounds. Plus, he’ll turn 25 before his first NFL snap.

NFL teams will have to decide how this will affect Chambliss’ stock.

Notre Dame’s CJ Carr and Missouri’s Austin Simmons are also worth keeping an eye on. Both have highlights of the NFL style, fitting the ball into tight spaces against good defenses. Both still need some development and may go back to school, but they are in the initial conversation.

Sellers and Sorsby: Two Different Bets

Many other QBs could play at the top of the 2027 Draft.

LaNorris Sellers of South Carolina never quite lived up to expectations, but the upside was tremendous. At 6’3, 240 pounds with a projected 40 hours in the mid-4.5 range, he brings Anthony Richardson-like qualities with three years of starting experience.

Sellers’ size, rushing upside, and rocket arm give him top-5 fantasy upside if he becomes an NFL starter.

You probably already know the story of Brendan Sorsby. He was ruled ineligible after evidence emerged that he had gambled on his own team while redshirting at Indiana. The NFL also declined to hold a supplemental draft, so Sorsby will spend a year away from football before becoming eligible in 2027.

Sorsby’s highlights are among the best in the class, but his inconsistency makes him difficult to evaluate. He likely ends up in Day 2 or early Day 3, though off-field issues and years away from football could push him down the board.

Jayden Maiava, Connor Weigman, and Sam Leavitt could also play into first-round consideration.
