It’s been a season of big numbers as teams continue to light up the scoreboard. A total of 107 games have been played over seven weeks, and clubs have reached the 30-point mark 60 times.
This week, the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers have some time off. Last Sunday, Kyle Shanahan’s team lost for the first time this year.
This week’s slate includes 14 contests, seven of those divisional showdowns.

This is the first week of the season where we’ll see the clubs face off for the second time in 2026. On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles will each look to complete season sweeps of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos, and Washington Commanders, respectively. More times than not, an NFL club takes two from a division rather than settle for a split. That has been the case for the past three seasons. The last time there were more sweeps than splits in a season was in 2022.

It’s obviously very early in the season, but it doesn’t really hurt to look at the standings. At this point, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers are the only two defending division champions sitting in first place. You’ll remember that a year ago, the Philadelphia Eagles were the only team to repeat as division champs. Will there be a similar result in 2026? It is worth noting that Nick Sirianni’s club, in the midst of a five-game losing streak, are the only division winners with a losing record at the moment.

Seven weeks into 2026 and a total of nine overtime games played this season. There have been 16 contests that have gone over 60 minutes in 2025, and the single-season record remains at 25—set in 2002. Over the past three weeks, there have been a total of 42 games played and six have gone into overtime, with a minimum of one per week. The New York Giants played in two of those six contests—sewing for a 27-27 tie with Washington in Week 5 and beating the Texans, 27-21, in Week 7.

He had as many trips to the end zone as his team’s Week 8 opponent. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions and Javonte Williams of Dallas are tied for the NFL lead with nine touchdowns. The former put together quite the resume. Gibbs appeared in 55 regular-season games and scored 58 touchdowns. He accumulated 5,919 total yards from scrimmage. That’s an impressive average of 107.6 yards per game. But Gibbs and the Lions’ offense faces the NFL’s second-ranked defense at home this Sunday.

The 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the league leader in receiving yardage this past season is at it again. This season, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (867) is currently 216 yards ahead of Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb (651). The former has totaled 100-plus receiving yards in six of his seven outings this season. The NFL single-season record for 100-plus yard receiving games is 11, held by Dallas’ Michael Irvin (1995), Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (2012), and the Rams’ Cooper Kupp (2021).
