What position should the Buffalo Bills target at the NFL trade deadline?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year, we poll the most plugged-in fans and Bills fans across the country.

Now 6-1 and currently in first place in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills look like a team that is serious about its goal under new head coach Joe Brady. It’s the team’s first head coaching change in nearly a decade, bringing a complete overhaul to the defensive scheme.

Up to this point, the offense has been advertised because of the ongoing relationship between quarterback Josh Allen and Brady, who remains the team’s play caller. This is the defense that has many scratching their heads week after week. At least that was true until the Bills’ Week 8 thrashing of the Baltimore Ravens. Although grains of salt are well-advised when considering the way Buffalo’s defense played Sunday, they look better as a cohesively operating unit.

What everyone wants to know right now is whether the defense has turned a corner. It’s impossible to say that’s true given the situation in Week 8, but the results paint a pretty good picture of what could be in store next season. New defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard promised a more aggressive system, and he delivered against the Ravens.

Considering all of that, it’s likely that the Bills could stand to add talent at several spots on the roster before the trade deadline expires. Is the offense set, or does it make sense to bring in a viable option at wide receiver to counter injuries?

Most would agree that defense is the way to go, and maybe more than one player. What position is most important? Is it someone at linebacker, or are they set with Terrel Bernard, Dorian, Williams, and to a lesser extent leading man Kaleb Elarms-Orr?

You can bet the game will find a new starting option at safety with veteran safety CJ Gardner-Johnson now released by the Bills. Safety Damar Hamlin received the start in Gardner-Johnson’s place and played well. Is Hamlin’s team’s long-term plan in position?

Maybe you have other plans, and they want to consider adding a player at a different position. Bills Mafia is was quite vocal about losing defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

Tell us what you think about where the Bills should add before the trade deadline. Also, has your confidence in the team’s direction changed following the Week 8 results and their decision to move on from CJGJ?
