Justin Jefferson is still recovering from his ankle injury from Week 3, and he won’t be available against the Dolphins.
The Minnesota Vikings enter Week 4 with a matchup against the Miami Dolphins, still trying to find their first win of the season. As for the Vikings, they are dealing with an ankle injury to wide receiver Justin Jefferson, which he suffered in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jefferson avoided a major injury and was announced as day-to-day, but he did not participate in any practices this week. So, not surprisingly, he was ruled out for Week 4, according to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer.
“Vikings have ruled out WR Justin Jefferson (ankle) for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins,” Pelissero wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Jefferson will have another week to rest his ankle, and the hope is that he can practice in some capacity next week for the Vikings. The team wanted to be careful about pushing him early in the season, and the good thing is that they have been successful because they are still undefeated. Of course, Jefferson has been key, but there have been other players who have stepped up as well.
Jordan Addison will take over the reins as WR1 in Jefferson’s absence, and that shouldn’t be a problem for him. Kyler Murray showed last week that he can move the ball around the field, and it will be up to several players to fill in for Jefferson.
Jefferson has 13 receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns so far this season, and when he gets back on the field, he’ll likely continue his strong play. That’s why it’s important that he gets as close to 100% as he can.
This shouldn’t be the toughest matchup for the Vikings this week, but the Dolphins may come out with a different intensity as they still look to get into the win column.
