The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0 and looking to go 6-0 in their Week 7 game against the Indianapolis Colts. However, the question is whether the Vikings will add to the team before the Nov. trade deadline. 10.

Minnesota has a Super Bowl-caliber defense; do they want to add to it, or maybe improve their offense to make sure the team can put up enough points to complement the defensive unit?

On October 21, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media and shared the team’s perspective on how they approach the trade deadline.

“I think it speaks to some positions where there may be not only good players available, but there may be some value there as well,” O’Connell told reporters.

“I know he’s really excited about where we are as a team right now, but if there’s an opportunity for us to get better, if there’s an opportunity for us to improve our team, we’ll have those conversations as we go along as that deadline approaches. But at the same time, I think it’s important that I have a lot of confidence in the team right now.”

The Vikings have already made a trade offloading former first-round pick JJ McCarthy for a 2027 fifth-round pick. It will be interesting to see if they use the draft capital to add to a team that could be an NFC contender.

KOC has full confidence in Vikings GM Nolan Teasley

Meanwhile, the man who will be required to work the phones is general manager Nolan Teasley. O’Connell spoke about the confidence he has in the Vikings’ general manager to make any deals to strengthen the team.

“I also have a lot of confidence in Nolan and his staff,” added O’Connell. “I know it feels like months and months and so many months away, but to give him such a strong draft to put his imprint on this team, I think it’s also important. So we really have to gauge what’s best for our team today.

“That’s a lot of confidence in our group, but also, it’s crazy to say it as a coach. I want to make sure we’re as smart as possible, just because I have a lot of confidence in what that group and Nolan in particular can do when it comes time to add to our team in the offseason.”

Minnesota Receives Worried Packers Message

Another reason Minnesota should consider adding to the team is that they could be in a tight race for the NFC North. Both the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers is 4-2. However, the Packers are worried about former Vikings linebacker Ben Leber.

“Yes, I think so [the Vikings] should worry,” Leber said on an Oct. 19 show on KFAN. “They’re picking up things on defense, and that’s obviously been a big question mark all season. Now it’s like they’re starting to figure it out, and day by day they’ve gone through the season, Micah Parsons will be healthier and healthier.

“So, they added him back to a pretty good front four that kind of figured it out. Their safety play is outstanding. I mean, they might have the three best safeties in the league. So, they do a really good job.”
