The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-2 after dropping their “Thursday Night Football” game against the Cleveland Browns, and that’s not the best place to be. They have veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the fold for the rest of the year, but they could make some changes when it comes to the team’s quarterback room before the trade deadline.
It’s definitely a question mark as to who the Steelers will be when Rodgers retires. But it probably won’t be one of the guys they have on the depth chart. Stranger things have happened, but it’s unlikely.
With that in mind, they could trade quarterbacks. On Friday, after the Steelers loss and before the rest of the NFL’s Week 4 games, ESPN’s Dan Graziano rattled off a collection of trade ideas.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have some thoughts on the quarterback
Graziano said he believes this team could benefit from trading backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. He also added that he expects “at least one more quarterback to be traded before the deadline.”
“The Steelers have four quarterbacks on their roster – 42-year-old starter Aaron Rodgers, second-year man Will Howard, rookie Drew Allar and Rudolph,” he added. “If something happens to Rodgers and he can’t play, I believe Rudolph will take over. But if we get to early November and Rodgers is still healthy, the Steelers might get an offer that convinces them to move on from their longtime backup.”
If they feel positive about having Howard or Allar take over if Rodgers gets hurt, that makes this trade more likely, he added. So, you heard it here first. It’s a trade that could happen, especially as the Steelers look at 2027 quarterback options.
