The 2027 NFL Draft has a lot of hype about the potential quarterback class, and there are other positions that have emerged as strengths. There may be a deep pool of great talent at wide receiver, and cornerback has the potential to be a quality class. One of the corners helping to make this a stronger class is Mississippi State’s Kelley Jones. In speaking with several team sources, they see Jones as a starter and potential first-round pick.
The 6-foot-3, 196-pound Jones is a big cornerback with impressive coverage ability. In 2026, Jones had 17 tackles with seven passes broken up. Jones is long, physical, and has speed. Beyond coverage skills, Jones is a willing tackler and run defender. In 2025, Jones had 34 tackles with two interceptions and 11 passes broken up. He had 28 tackles as a freshman.
my latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft, I have Jones going in the middle of the draft. With Jones, Notre Dame’s Leonard Moore, Georgia’s Ellis Robinson, Clemson’s Ashton Hampton, and possibly more, the 2027 draft has the potential to be a good year for cornerback talent.
