Sunday will be the first time for the Cincinnati Bengals to face former pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.
One of Hendrickson’s teammates on the Baltimore Ravens is drinking the Kool-Aid in this revenge game with a pretty big prediction:
“Trey’s a great leader, and he’s a guy who flies around,” linebacker Trenton Simpson said Wednesday. “And man, I’m excited to see him against his old team. The things he does in practice, the way he rushes the pass, and how he can get off the ball. And I believe this game for him is going to be like one of those multiple-sack games. That’s why I’m calling it. I’m excited to see the celebration he does, that’s why I’m excited.”
Hendrickson missed two games this season because of a broken finger he had surgery on. If he ends up with multiple sacks, it will be the first such performance in Baltimore, as he has just two so far.
He was good last week against the Cleveland Browns, getting plenty of pressure on a rookie left tackle and recording a sack.
It will be interesting to see how the Bengals pass protect Hendrickson. One thing we do know is that the team is probably excited to run directly at him.
For years, one of the biggest knocks was that you could run to Hendrickson and get yards pretty easily. It became more and more obvious as the defense around him deteriorated
Hendrickson will undoubtedly wear the biggest chip on his shoulder. He’s been loud and clear about his displeasure with the front office, and he’ll tell anyone who will listen about his offseason contract drama. That obviously left a bad taste with most fans.
Now, the Bengals will need to prevent Hendrickson from having a big day if they are going to come out of Baltimore with a W.
