The Colts received trade calls on multiple players before the NFL trade deadline. But Indy won’t make any moves until after Week 9.
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to have a fire sale before the NFL trade deadline. Indy is 2-6 and on a four-game losing streak after all during the 2025 season. The Colts already traded away a lot of players before the deadline, but they have plenty of players who could join that list. So when will the trades start flying again?
NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared that the team doesn’t plan to make any trades until after Week 9.
“Sources: The #Colts have received multiple calls on several players, including Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart and others,” Schultz wrote on social media Thursday. “But the belief around the league is that, barring an offer that will blow them away, Indianapolis plans to wait until after Sunday’s game against the Cowboys before revisiting the offers on the table and making trades that make sense on Monday and Tuesday before the deadline.”
Indy already traded Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner in late October. Now the Colts are expected to continue to trade their talented players as they prepare for the future.
Returning Jonathan Taylor was the best talked about before the deadline. Taylor is one of the best backs in the NFL and several teams have questioned his availability. Based on Schultz’s reporting, it looks like Indy will make a decision on Taylor’s future early next week. If he is not moved by 4 pm ET on November 10th, he will remain in Indy for the rest of the season.
The Colts do not have a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. They also don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback Daniel Jones doesn’t look like the man. So it makes sense for Indy to load up on draft picks and rebuild for the future.
In the meantime, it is fascinating to see if the Colts bench players like Taylor in Week 9 to avoid injuries before the deadline.
The Colts vs. Cowboys at 1 pm ET on Nov 8 from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
