NFL injury news: Lions stay healthy, Packers release defensive captain

The Detroit Lions (3-2) and Green Bay Packers (4-2) released their Week 7 injury designations ahead of their Sunday afternoon matchup at Ford Field. The Lions will enter the game as healthy as they have been in some time, while the Packers are quickly adjusting to an unexpected fluky injury to one of their defensive captains.

Let’s take a look at Friday’s injury report and bring you up to date with what we know.

Note: Any changes from the most recent damage report will be in bold.

No Lions players were sent off in this game.

At this point, Mays and Branch remain on the injury report as a formality. Despite being listed as questionable, both players are expected to be activated from their respective injury lists (the Lions usually do this on Saturdays) and start against the Packers.

While Campbell confirmed Mays is expected to start at center and play the entire game, the Lions coach said they have a plan for Branch but want to be smart about how they use him:

“Yes, we have a good idea with him. Let’s get him out of here and we’ll be smart, but he’s ready to play.”

Not listed with damage designation

Ya-Sin missed the Lions Week 5 game against the Cardinals but improved during the bye week and is practicing in limited form leading up to this week’s game. The Lions may still plan to take his return game slow, but it will be tempting to get him back on the field, as his ability to contribute in multiple phases on special teams could bolster that unit.

Packers’ damage assignments

Full assignment is near, but MIKE linebacker Zaire Franklin has been waived by the Packers after he was hit in the shin on Thursday and was unable to play.
