Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Jauan Jennings has decided not to pursue a trade back to the 49ers

Yes, the 49ers tried to arrange a reunion with receiver Jauan Jennings.

Over the weekend, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the 49ers and Vikings had an agreement in place, but Jennings ultimately decided to stay in Minnesota. On Wednesday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed it.

“The report was accurate, just not totally exactly detailed up,” Shanahan told reporters. “I mean, you can’t talk to other players on other teams. You are not allowed. We love Jauan. We have such a good relationship with Jauan and know him really well and we didn’t want to do it without talking to him first. So, we had to agree on a few things to somehow be close enough to talk to him.

“Then when we FaceTimed with JJ, it went well. It was great. We talked a lot, and he ended up saying he was happy where he was. It wasn’t just a definite ‘no’ first, but he was like, ‘Man, Kyle, I’m pretty happy here and I like things.’ And when I heard the way he spoke and where we were, I agreed with him. So, it was a good conversation and something was possible, but that’s why it didn’t go down.”

Jennings still isn’t doing much for the Vikings. In six games, he has six catches for 54 yards.

The fact that the Vikings allowed Jenning to talk to the 49ers shows that the Vikings are willing to move on. The fact that Jennings stayed kept receiver Odell Beckham Jr. which is parked on the Minnesota practice squad.
