How Terry McLaurin’s absence affects the Commanders’ passing attack

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will be without one of his top targets for the rest of the season.

Late in the first quarter of a 23-17 road loss to the San Francisco 49ers on “Monday Night Football,” wide receiver Terry McLaurin was carted off the field with a knee injury. On Tuesday, Washington head coach Dan Quinn revealed that the WR tore the patellar tendon in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

“Man, I’m gutted for him,” Quinn said while confirming he will soon undergo surgery, via The Athletic’s David Aldridge.

Losing McLaurin will hurt Washington for the rest of the season. Entering Week 7, the two-time Pro Bowler leads the team in receiving yards (230 on 15 receptions). He is also one of Daniels’ favorite pass-catchers since Washington selected him with pick No. 2 in the 2024 NFL Draft. During this time, the eighth-year wideout led the franchise in receiving yards (1,908 on 135 receptions) and touchdown catches (17).
