Colts Interim GM Ed Dodds takes first steps by adding pair of veterans to practice squad

Busy day yesterday, so talking with the Indianapolis Colts, where interim general manager Ed Dodds made his first roster move at his franchise position for the rest of the 2026 campaign:

It will be interesting to see how Dodds leaves his fingerprints on the franchise over the next few months compared to his longtime GM predecessor, Chris Ballard, who was relieved of his duties earlier this week.

The 28-year-old Harman, originally a 2019 2nd round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, is known for being a deep threat for that franchise. However, he has bounced around a bit since then, also playing in the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, and Buffalo Bills organizations.

At 5,’10”, 187 pounds, Hardman has 178 receptions for 2,302 receiving yards (12.9 ypc. avg.) and 16 touchdown receptions during 82 career games (28 starts).

He appeared in 2 games for the Bills last season, but did not record a catch. He has yet to appear in 2026 with an NFL team, but will look to continue his professional football career with the Colts.

Meanwhile, after Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez took a big hit late on a blocked punt in Sunday’s brutal home loss to the Tennessee Titans, and suffered a foot injury, Indianapolis is bringing in veteran punter Thomas Morstead for insurance, in case Sanchez is unavailable for this weekend’s road game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The 40-year-old longtime punter has appeared in 272 career games, and was the rookie punter for the New Orleans Saints in their 2009 upset Super Bowl win over the Indianapolis Colts. He actually managed the surprise second-half onside kick, which speaks of a bad memory and a blast from the past.

Morstead punted for the San Francisco 49ers last year in all 17 games, averaging 43.6 yards per punt on his 44 punts, including 22 pinned inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.
