Running backs with 4.7 speed rarely receive starting consideration in the NFL — most of them have been moved to fullback by then — but Skattebo (5-foot-10, 219 pounds) could prove a rare case. He was extremely productive at Arizona State and Sacramento State, leading the Giants to select him with the third pick in the fourth round of the 2025 Draft (105th overall). If Skattebo can make it in the NFL, it will likely be because of his tremendous running in traffic and remarkable short-area explosiveness. As bad as his 40 time is, Skattebo plays faster thanks to his instant, near-flawless processing and powerful burst (39.5-inch vertical, 123-inch broad jump). In other words, Skattebo can’t run away from anyone but can dice up defenses with chunk gains. He runs with exceptional aggression and immediately lowers his center of gravity to make contact with impressive leverage, making it difficult for defenses to trap him once he gets to the second level. Tyrone Tracy is a promising pick for the Giants in 2024 and could remain their starter, but Skattebo is the stronger and more capable volume player of the two. With workhorse potential and outstanding catching ability, Skattebo has big-time fantasy upside despite his 4.7 40 and Tracy’s presence.
