Best content of the week: Lions CB Rakestraw eager to build on success

It’s not exactly a storybook start for Detroit Lions cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. Whether it was injuries, bad luck, or a combination of the two, he never really had a chance to continue his NFL career. However, the past is the past, and Rakestraw, now in his third year in the NFL, has put together a string of solid performances. 97.1’s Will Burchfield has the story of how Rakestraw is happy to be moving in the right direction, but knows he still has work to do to solidify his status as a full-time starter in the Lions’ defense.

“I just have to worry about myself,” Rakestraw told Burchfield. “If they go get a corner, they go get a corner. Whatever move they make is the best move for the team, so 100 percent behind whatever they want. Obviously we feel like we can do it here, but if they don’t feel like that, they’re the one who gotta make the big decisions. If we trade for a corner, we don’t know if one of us and better to stay, so one of us will stay to better week. to give them a reason not to do that what a step.”
