The Cincinnati Bengals sure know how to annoy their fan base. In their win against the Baltimore Ravens, the team looked absolutely awful. The offense was disjointed and the defense kept giving up explosive plays, especially on 3rd-and-long.
Ultimately that script was flipped at halftime. The team walked right into the field with Joe Burrow as surgeon as we knew he could be. It ended with a perfect lofted ball to Mike Gesicki. The offense would do that four more times in a row to score 35 points in the second half, which would be enough to win the game.
It was one of the more dominant offensive performances we’ve seen in some time, and that’s the biggest reason Cincinnati fans are disappointed with the type of offense that runs the place. They are capable of doing this type of thing any time the Bengals get an offensive possession. It’s obviously impossible to expect them to score every drive, but they’ve shown that they’re capable of scoring serious points.
Chase clearly got that C on his jersey. There are plenty of great leaders on this Cincinnati squad, but Chase might be the most intense. It obviously changed some of the Bengals’ mindset on the field as we’ve seen.
Dexter Lawrence just dominated. He finally gets to do the “sexy dexy” dance after getting a sack. What didn’t go unnoticed was that he also helped stop a tush push near the end of the game by going over the top and grabbing Tyler Huntley before he could gain any momentum.
One of the most ridiculous stats the Ravens have as a team is that they have a +65 point differential in the first half and a -70 in the second half. Minter talks a lot about riding the momentum too much. That may be true, but it has been a consistent problem for them so far this season. You have to wonder if the mentality is all that wrong.
There are no undefeated teams left in the AFC. That just goes to show how top-heavy the AFC is right now. There are seven teams with two or fewer losses. The Buffalo Bills are the only other team with one loss. That’s just to say that a route to some sort of higher seed is certainly possible. The biggest obstacles may be the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns who are both 5-2.
It’s more than just football. It should have ended with a few sacks by the Philadelphia Eagles before there was any analysis put together. What happened was playing a player’s life more than once.
You must feel bad for the Cousins. He was almost certain to be benched after the team dropped four straight games after starting 3-0. However, the losses came against the Kansas City Chiefs, Bills, New England Patriots and Los Angeles. Two of them are also very close. That’s the nature of the beast and Cousins knows what he’s getting into with the Raiders having the No. 1 overall pick.
