Eagles get ‘morale boost’ from Jalen Hurts ahead of Giants game

The Philadelphia Eagles much-needed spark in the midst of a brutal six-game losing streak, and Jalen Hurts seems to have been given to them.

Hurts is on injured reserve and expected to miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season after blood clots were found in his lungs, but he showed up at Philadelphia’s practice facility on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Tim McManus.

Hurts didn’t speak to the team, but he was present at meetings, and his presence alone was enough to give some on the team a “morale boost,” McManus added.

The Eagles are still trying to find a way out of the slump. Their last win came in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titansand they are coming into Week 9 coming off a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

The QB situation in Philadelphia is still unsettled. Tanner McKee went 0-3 as a starter in Hurts’ place, and he now finds himself on the bench, with the team turning to Joe Milton, who is slated to start under center this coming Sunday against the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

At 2-6 after eight weeks, the Eagles are not out of the NFC East race, and a win against the division-leading Giants, who own a 4-2-1 record, could be the start of a surprising comeback for Philadelphia.
