Eagles Injury Report: No practice for DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, Tay Wicks

The Philadelphia Eagles released their first official injury report of the week on Wednesday ahead of their Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles have listed seven players under NOT PARTICIPATING: Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Jihaad Campbell, Michael Carter II, Britain Covey, and Jonathan Jones.

Barkley was listed under DNP on Wednesday and Thursday of last week before being limited on Friday and playing through a pitch count on Sunday. The Eagles SHOULD just sit him down and rest him. Especially with the next Sunday 10 bye. But we will see if they actually do that or not.

Looks like Smitty and Wicks are monitoring another game. Again, there’s no need to rush them back before the goodbye. The Eagles could be back with Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore.

It looks like Campbell will miss another game, putting Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in line to start again.

MC2 seems to have aggravated the stomach wound that caused him to lose time. Not good for the Eagles safety and nickel depth.

Covey could miss another game, leaving Cooper DeJean to return punts.

Jones could miss another game, leaving the Eagles without their top backup cornerback. But the veteran shouldn’t really be playing with the youngsters at this point anyway.

The Eagles have listed three players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Jake Elliott, Jonathan Greenard, and Jalyx Hunt.

It’s not good to see the Eagles’ kicker on the report. But predictably the Eagles manage his workload enough to get him on game day.

Greenard was clearly not healthy. The Eagles manage his reps. Ditto for Hunt.

The Eagles listed eight players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Tanner McKee, Landon Dickerson, Dallas Goedert, Zack Baun, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Markel Bell, and Kenny Moore II.

All of these players should be in line to play on Sunday.

McKee is a new addition to the report with a chest injury. This development came at the same time as it was reported that he was being benched for Joe Milton III. For some reason, the Eagles have once again been weird about handling their QB situation.

Man, imagine if Nick Sirianni didn’t focus on competitive advantage. The Eagles could be a really bad team without all the necessary obfuscation.

Dickerson listed with a hip injury is new. He previously dealt with knee and pectoral injuries.
