Twenty-five percent of NFL teams today own a 4-2 record. This 4-2 record sees both legitimate juggernauts and borderline playoff teams, which also makes this record very impressive. Week 7 of the 2026 NFL Season is upon us, so there’s no better time than now to take a deeper look at the league’s hierarchy.
With every team winning at least one game, and only three undefeated teams remaining, and only one team with one loss, it really isn’t a cliche to say that the league is wide open this year. As the mid-season approaches, it will be interesting to see how everything shakes out.
Let’s take another league-wide view of our power rankings, but simplify it a bit and rank all eight 4-2 teams.
Power-rank every 4-2 team as Week 7 approaches
8. Pittsburgh Steelers
I guess I just don’t see it with the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. The more things change on this team, the more they stay the same. The big change this offseason is bringing in Mike McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin, but we’re seeing much of the same type of performance from the Steelers this year.
They barely got by the now 1-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they needed overtime to do it. The team didn’t really do anything particularly well, and the quarterback play was nothing to hype up. All in all, the Steelers are firmly back in that 9-8, 10-7 tier, and that’s clearly the norm going forward.
7. Green Bay Packers
You may wonder why I have the Green Bay Packers so low, but I can’t see this team as a top contender with the amount of injuries they’re going through. Especially with how deep the NFC North is, the Packers may struggle to get out of that Wild Card tier, and while both sides of the ball are playing well, we’ll see injuries catch up to them late in the season. I just want to be careful with the Packers now.
