The Tyreek Hill verdict in the civil trial raises more questions about the future of the NFL

The NFL now knows the verdict in former Kansas City Chiefs/Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s civil lawsuit.

On Tuesday, a Miami jury returned a mixed verdict on the assault and civil charges against Hill, finding the WR liable on two counts of battery but not liable for the eight remaining allegations made by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. The jury awarded Vaccaro $500K in compensatory damages but rejected his claims for punitive damages.

How does the Tyreek Hill verdict affect the NFL’s comeback?

According to ESPN’s Xuan Thai, the NFL told the outlet last week that Hill’s situation remains under “personal conduct policy review.” Once it concludes the review, the league could suspend Hill.

A recent report revealed that several teams, including the Chiefs, may pass on the free agent WR after he admitted at trial that he shoved his wife during a fight. Another general manager said he wouldn’t sign the eight-time Pro Bowler.
