49ers news: The reason Fred Warner was fined $41,793 after Week 3

The reason San Francisco 49ers star Fred Warner was fined $41,973 following the Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner received two fines totaling $41,793 for his actions during the team’s 36-30 Week 3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Warner received one of the penalties for a hip-drop tackle that was not flagged during the game. The NFL assessed the 49ers star a $17,911 fine for the game, which is part of the $41,793 total he accrued from the two divisional matchup violations.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo shared Saturday’s disciplinary action on X, formerly known as Twitter, along with a clip of the hip-drop tackle.

“#49ers LB Fred Warner was fined twice for a total of $41,793 in Week 3, including $17,911 for this hip-drop tackle that wasn’t flagged.”

Despite officials not penalizing Warner for the hip-drop tackle during the game, the NFL reviewed the play and issued a fine afterward.

Fred Warner received two penalties after the 49ers’ Week 3 victory

Warner’s fines come after San Francisco maintained its undefeated start to the 2026 season with another victory in the NFC West.

The 49ers beat the Cardinals by six points to go 3-0 in their first three games. San Francisco will now try to keep that momentum going as it prepares for a Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

Warner remains a central part of the 49ers’ defense after returning from a major ankle injury that limited him for the 2025 season. The veteran linebacker opened the 2026 campaign with a dominant performance against the Los Angeles Rams and became San Francisco’s all-time leader in tackles during the victory.

The fines will not affect Warner’s availability for Week 4, leaving him in position to lead the defense against Denver.

The 49ers will host the 2-1 Broncos on Sunday at 1:25 pm PT on CBS as they try to improve to 4-0.
