The Eagles got a rough injury update on DeVonta Smith

The Philadelphia Eagles are not expected to get their top target for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him on the sidelines all week. According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, there is “not much optimism” that Smith will be healthy enough to suit up when the Rams visit Lincoln Financial Field. He is not expected to be in the lineup.

Smith enters the 2026 campaign as the clear No. 1 wideout by the Eagles after the team traded AJ Brown to the New England Patriots in the offseason.

The 27-year-old has lived up to the billing so far. He became Jalen Hurts‘ most targeted receiver in each of Philadelphia’s first three games.

Smith led the team in both targets (27) and receptions (19), highlighted by a Week 2 performance in which he caught 10 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Tennessee Titans.

The Rams faced a similar issue, as Puka Nacua missed the team’s last two games with a chronic hip injury. The Rams hope to have their All-Pro wide receiver back for Sunday’s game.
