The Eagles left the player they traded for last year

The Philadelphia Eagles waived Jakorian Bennett, according to a Nov. 3 NFL personnel notice.

The Eagles previously opened Bennett’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve on Oct. 14. The team is nearing a deadline to 1) activate him from the roster or 2) shut him down for the rest of the 2026 season.

Instead, the Eagles chose door No. 3 and waived him from IR to apparently allow him to join a new team. Or maybe he could return to Philly on the practice squad if he ends up elsewhere?

In need of cornerback help, the Eagles originally acquired Bennett in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last summer. There was hope the 2023 fourth-round pick could contribute but he logged just 98 defensive snaps (69 of which came in Week 18 last year when the Eagles were resting starters) and 58 defensive snaps in 2025.

Bennett began the 2026 season on IR after being injured in the preseason. Had he stayed healthy, he might have pushed the top backup out of the cornerback role that veteran Jonathan Jones claimed instead. But with Jones recently injured and being a 33-year-old playing on a one-year deal, it might make sense to put Bennett in that role instead. He may even be in line to see starting snaps with the Eagles potentially set to move Riq Woolen before the NFL trade deadline.

Instead, Bennett is gone.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are still using Thomas Booker IV, who the Eagles gave up for Bennett. Booker recorded the third-most defensive tackle snaps for Las Vegas last year and the fourth-most so far this season.
