Ugly-But-Productive Outing by Josh Jacobs

Packers RB Josh Jacobs had the worst 23.2-PPR-point outing you’ll ever see in Thursday night’s win over the Panthers. He managed just 39 yards on 21 carries (1.9 YPC), with a long run of 6 yards and 14 carries that went for 1 yard or less. He also caught all 6 of his targets for just 13 yards. Fortunately, two of Jacobs’ catches went for TDs: a one-yard score in the second quarter after a nice cut behind the line of scrimmage, and a four-yard TD catch in the third quarter after a breakaway in the backfield.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: A Pure Quantitative Betting

Jacobs was heavily used in two games back from suspension: 32 carries and 13 targets. He went from a 52% snap rate and 41% route rate in Week 7 to 71% snap and 46% route vs. Carolina. That’s RB1-level usage.

But the efficiency is very bad. Jacobs averaged 2.3 yards per carry, slightly worse than RB MarShawn Lloyd’s 2.6. Thursday night was particularly alarming because the Panthers entered the game allowing a league-high 5.2 yards per carry to RBs.

Jacobs certainly hasn’t looked electric, but run blocking remains the biggest problem. And it’s hard to see that improvement in Green Bay’s pitching staff.

Jacobs was slightly better in the passing game, hauling in 85% of his targets but averaging just 6.2 yards per catch. Receiving scores in each of the last two weeks has really boosted fantasy production. In fact, two of his four highest-scoring games as a receiver have come in the past two weeks.

The use of the passing-game should continue to bolster Jacobs’ floor. But we also don’t expect 14.9 PPR points per game from the receiving forward.

He holds up well as a volume-based RB2 going forward. But Jacobs is also a sell if you see a leaguemate who views him as a top-12 option.
