There’s a three-word phrase that sometimes floats around social media timelines when an NFL quarterback, like Josh Allen, makes a spectacular individual play.
“This freaking guy.”
It comes from fgact with plays that NFL quarterbacks sometimes make during the game that border on the impossible. That leaves opposing quarterbacks, defensive coordinators, and fans alike wondering what it would take to slow them down on any given Sunday.
Like this moment from Allen himself against the Las Vegas Raiders:
With the Bills facing a 3rd-and-8 situation in the red zone, Allen took the shotgun snap and was about ten yards deep behind the line of scrimmage, in the pocket. While the Raiders only rushed four, the pocket eventually broke down due to solid coverage downfield, forcing Allen into scramble mode.
After missing a pair of defenders, he somehow flicked the ball forward — from the 14-yard line — to Keon Coleman a few yards deep in the end zone.
That’s right, a back-handed touchdown pass that covers about 20 yards in the air.
