The Broncos offense was abysmal for most of Thursday night’s game. They even beat the Seahawks.
Over Denver’s final 10 possessions — two in the second quarter, three in the third quarter, four in the fourth quarter and one in overtime — the Broncos’ offense totaled 32 yards. Seven of those 10 possessions ended in punts, two ended in the ends of the first and second halves, and one in overtime started in field goal range and ended in a game-winning field goal.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix couldn’t move on offense: He threw the ball 27 times for 107 yards, was sacked twice for a loss of 13 yards, and had four rushes for two yards. Add all that up, and in 33 plays, Nix totaled 96 yards. That’s 2.9 yards per play. Basically, you can’t win in the NFL when your quarterback plays like that.
Fortunately for the Broncos, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold also played for a loss. Darnold’s overtime interception did something Nix couldn’t: Put the Broncos in position to win.
