Eagles Benching Jalen Hurts As They Know His Blood

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will miss Sunday’s game against the Panthers due to a blood clot in his calf. The injury stemmed from a Week 4 loss to the Rams, and the team said the blood clot was found via ultrasound before last Sunday’s game in London.

What They Say

Team statement: “Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that it was safe for Jalen to play. The doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.

“On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound showed movement of the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers while we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety is our highest priority.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact

Hurts has struggled with three straight fantasy finishes outside the top 20 at his position, so this shouldn’t affect the lineup nearly as much as we expected entering the season.

Expect Philly to turn to Tanner McKee after dumping Andy Dalton earlier this season.

McKee started Week 18 each of the past two seasons, with the Eagles resting starters before the playoffs. His passing numbers for those games:

Obviously we didn’t expect much from McKee in his first exposure within a Sean Mannion scheme that hasn’t gone well for five weeks. But McKee is in his fourth season with the Eagles and should at least offer serviceable passing.

He got a solid matchup with a Carolina defense that was 21st in total DVOA and 18th against the pass.

Downgrade the Eagles pass catchers you’re considering slightly, but don’t completely move them from starter to unavailable.

We’ll be watching for updates on Hurts’ outlook beyond Week 6.
