Bengals QB Joe Burrow was left confused by a reporter’s question before delivering a hilarious response about the need for a Webster’s dictionary.
The Cincinnati Bengals are struggling on the field after suffering a losing streak. Getting back on track has become an immediate priority for the team and their quarterback Joe Burrow. However, as the team continues to struggle on the field, Burrow provided a lighthearted moment in his latest media interaction.
At a recent press conference, a reporter asked Burrow if there was anything in particular that “upset” him that came out of the game. Burrow looked unfamiliar with the word and paused to make sure he understood exactly what the reporter was asking before asking for clarification.
“What is that?” Burrow asked.
The reporter then repeated the phrase, saying, “Galled you.” Burrow was still unfamiliar with the word and responded with a humorous comment.
“I don’t know that one. You’ve got to bring out the Websters,” Burrow said.
The short exchange quickly turned into a light moment amid a difficult stretch for the Bengals. After opening the season with a 2-0 record, Burrow and his team lost their momentum and dropped two straight games.
The Bengals’ losing streak began in Week 3 when they fell 30-27 on the road to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Burrow put together a stellar performance in the matchup, throwing three touchdown passes without an interception. However, his strong outing ultimately wasn’t enough to prevent Cincinnati from suffering its first loss of the season.
Things remained tough in Week 4 when the Bengals returned home to face the Jacksonville Jaguars at Paycor Stadium. Burrow completed 39 of 54 attempts for 428 yards and a passing touchdown. However, his two interceptions and Cincinnati’s inability to finish off a late comeback resulted in another loss.
Today, Burrow and the Bengals will look to end their losing streak when they take on the Miami Dolphins. Cincinnati will need its franchise quarterback to continue to perform at a high level while finding a way to turn his individual production into a winner.
